Football Game Preview: Irvin Rockets vs. Mountain View Lobos

The Irvin Rockets will take on the Mountain View Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain View took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Irvin, who comes in off a win.

Irvin is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past San Elizario to the tune of 54-8 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Rockets.

Irvin had a senior duo take command as Dallas Medina threw for 194 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes and Michael Salazar picked up 147 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. With that strong performance, Salazar is now averaging an impressive 101.4 receiving yards per game. Irvin also got a significant boost from Joseph Davila, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 89 yards.

Irvin was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 255 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Elizario only rushed for 154.

Meanwhile, Mountain View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 28-20 to Clint.

Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Irvin, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-3.

Irvin didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Mountain View in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 27-21 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Lobos' Omar Nevarez, who rushed for 165 yards and a pair of scores on only 15 carries. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Rockets to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
