Basketball Recap: Virginia School for the Deaf & Blind Takes a Loss

Virginia School for the Deaf & Blind managed to slip by Appalachian Christian School the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Fox Defenders lost 52-28 to the Trailblazers on Thursday. The Fox Defenders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 32-7.

Despite the loss, Virginia School for the Deaf & Blind saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jackson Winslow posted nine points and six boards.

Appalachian Christian School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Micah Traynham, who had eight points. That's the most points Traynham has posted since back in November of 2024. Jonathan Vazquez was another key player, putting up eight points.

Virginia School for the Deaf & Blind's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Appalachian Christian School, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Virginia School for the Deaf & Blind will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Faith Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on December 2. As for Appalachian Christian School, they will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on Harrisonburg HomeSchool at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
