Softball Recap: Nooksack Valley Takes a Loss

Nooksack Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 18-6 to the Lynden Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Pioneers have suffered since May 7, 2024.

Alayna Dykstra was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Shelby Mason was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Nooksack Valley's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Lynden, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nooksack Valley will venture away from home to take on Blaine at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pioneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Borderites have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Lynden, they will face off against Sedro-Woolley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Cubs will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Lions surely won't give up without a fight.
