Basketball Recap: Salina Central Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Salina Central entered their matchup against Andover on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Salina Central Mustangs came up short against the Andover Trojans, falling 68-47. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 65-61 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Salina Central still got an impressive performance from Kaden Snyder, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 11 points and eight rebounds. Kamryn Jones was another key player, putting up ten points.

It was another big night for Joshua Kim, who went 8 of 11 en route to 21 points in addition to five boards and three steals for Andover. The game was Kim's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Paul Evans, who went 5 for 12 on his way to 17 points.

Salina Central's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6. As for Andover, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Salina Central will welcome Maize at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Maize knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Salina Central likes a good challenge. As for Andover, they will venture away from home to face off against Newton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Andover is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.4 points per game this season.
