With a playoff win on the line, Santa Cruz Valley rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 66-50 victory over the Glendale Prep Academy Griffins. The Dust Devils' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Richard Reyes Jr. threw for 35 yards. Nathan Ruiz was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards.

When it comes to explaining why Glendale Prep Academy lost, don't look at Joshua McHale. Despite the final result, he threw for 333 yards and six TDs, and also rushed for 134 yards on only 13 carries. McHale has become a key player for the Griffins: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise. Atticus Wyzevich was McHale's top target, picking up 73 receiving yards and three scores.

Santa Cruz Valley now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Glendale Prep Academy, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-4.

Coming up, Santa Cruz Valley will take on Veritas Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Dust Devils will need to watch out since the Falcons have now posted at least 31 points in their last five contests. Glendale Prep Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
