Preview: Oakdale Mustangs vs. Kimball Jaguars
Oakdale is 0-10 against Kimball since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Oakdale Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Kimball Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Oakdale has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Oakdale pushed their score all the way to 61 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Enochs 67-61. Oakdale has not had much luck with Enochs recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, Kimball came up short against Manteca on Friday and fell 54-45. While losing is never fun, Kimball can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 536th, while Manteca is ranked 243rd).
Kimball's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Madhav Asija, who scored 16 points, and Osama Mirghani who scored eight points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Tobe Nwankwo, who scored six points.
Oakdale's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-13. As for Kimball, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-10.
Oakdale took a serious blow against Kimball when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 67-37. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Oakdale was down 40-17.
