The Anderson Trojans will face off against the Bastrop Bears at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Anderson is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Richards School for Young Women Leaders a 29-0 shutout on Thursday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

The team relied heavily on Lauren Montalvo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, four runs, and three doubles. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Kylie Grahmann, who went 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
Anderson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Bastrop had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 10-0 win. Considering the Bears have won seven matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Ella Griesenbeck's shutout, as she gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.5 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, Madison Perez and Lanie Coy did most of the damage at the plate: Perez scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Coy went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Laicey Sullivent was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
Bastrop's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Anderson, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-7.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Anderson has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .492. However, it's not like Bastrop struggles in that department as they've averaged .533. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
