Basketball Game Preview: Drew Dragons vs. The Nueva School Mavericks

The Drew Dragons and The Nueva School Mavericks will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Drew is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.9 points per game this season.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Drew turned things around against Crystal Springs Uplands on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Gryphons by a score of 65-57. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Dragons' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 814th, while the Gryphons are ranked 396th).

It was another big night for Kian Chan, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 24 points in addition to five assists and three steals. The contest was his fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rafa Ledesma, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Meanwhile, The Nueva School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting KIPP San Jose Collegiate an easy 58-37 win.

The Nueva School's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Drew, their victory bumped their record up to 3-6.
