Soccer Game Preview: Lexington vs. Shelby

The Lexington Minutemen will square off against the Shelby Whippets at 6:45 p.m. on Monday.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Lexington's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clear Fork on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Lexington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio soccer rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Clear Fork are ranked 32nd).

Meanwhile, Shelby kept a clean sheet against Loudonville on Saturday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Redbirds.

Ashley Montgomery and Reece Friend scored both of Shelby's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Lexington's defeat ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 7-4-1. As for Shelby, their victory bumped their record up to 6-4-2.

Lexington took their win against Shelby when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Will the Minutemen repeat their success, or do the Whippets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
