The Henry County Wildcats will take on the Taylor County Cardinals at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Henry County is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Washington County 20-5 on Sunday. The win was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won three matches in a row.
Sawyer Yates made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Jaylan Hortenbury was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kaiden Wilson, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5.
Henry County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .561. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Taylor County got themselves on the board against Washington County on Wednesday, but Washington County never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Commanders. With that victory, the Cardinals brought their scoring average up to 7.4 runs per game.
Taylor County got a massive performance out of Cole McLean, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Luke Hayes was another key player, scoring three runs while going 4-for-4.
Henry County's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Taylor County, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Henry County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Taylor County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.6 strikeouts.
