Baseball Recap: West Oso Wins Going Away Against Aransas Pass

After only one run in their last contest, West Oso made sure to put some runs up on the board against Aransas Pass on Saturday. West Oso put the hurt on Aransas Pass with a sharp 16-6 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jashaud Johnson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because West Oso is 5-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Johnson was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kendall Taylor, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of West Oso's success: when he posts at least three hits the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jaime Guerrero, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

West Oso lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

With the victory, West Oso broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-6. As for Aransas Pass, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9-1 record this season.
