Baseball Recap: Jersey Shore Gets the Win

The Jersey Shore Bulldogs were able to grind out a solid win over the Columbia Montour Vo-Tech Rams on Monday, taking the game 10-6. That's two games straight that the Bulldogs have won by exactly four runs.

Greyson Confair looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits.

On the hitting side, Landon Welshans was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Berguson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Jersey Shore hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia Montour Vo-Tech struck out 11 times.

Jersey Shore has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.0 runs this season. As for Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jersey Shore will square off against Wellsboro at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Columbia Montour Vo-Tech, they will face off against Millville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will give Columbia Montour Vo-Tech their first taste of in-conference action this season.
