Football Recap: Caleb Holmes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead West Jones over South Jones

West Jones was the 28-21 winner over South Jones when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Mustangs fell just short of the Braves by a score of 38-35 on Friday. On the bright side, the 35- point performance marked the Mustangs' highest-scoring game to date.

Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caleb Holmes, who rushed for 212 yards and two TDs while picking up 8.5 yards per carry. Holmes really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Chandler Watson was in the mix too, providing West Jones with three touchdowns.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Jones fell to 2-1-1. As for South Jones, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

West Jones has already played their next matchup, a 35-6 win against North Pike on the 19th. As for South Jones, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 42-20 victory against Quitman on the 19th.
