Preview: Dickinson Gators vs. Clear Springs Chargers
Dickinson is 8-2 against Clear Springs since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Dickinson Gators will head out on the road to take on the Clear Springs Chargers at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Dickinson comes in on five and Clear Springs on eight.
Even though Clear Brook scored an imposing 56 points on Tuesday, Dickinson still came out on top. Dickinson put the hurt on Clear Brook with a sharp 81-56 victory. Given Dickinson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 289th, while Clear Brook is ranked 640th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
David Chong and Qasim Boyd were among the main playmakers for Dickinson as the former scored 17 points along with five rebounds and two steals and the latter scored 30 points along with six assists and three steals. Boyd hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Diego Sanchez was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Clear Springs can now show off 12 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Clear Brook 83-44 at home.
Dickinson is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-17 record this season. As for Clear Springs, they pushed their record up to 23-8 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home.
Dickinson couldn't quite finish off Clear Springs in their previous meeting back in January and fell 66-64. Can Dickinson avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
