Volleyball Recap: Melissa Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Melissa duked it out with Plano East on Saturday. The Cardinals took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Panthers when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Duura Kpea paced Melissa's offense, picking up four kills. Kpea got some help from Presley Williford and her six assists. Rachel Lewis controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Leading Plano East to victory were Emma Reeves and Dakota Huynh. Reeves had six digs and three aces, while Huynh had 11 digs. That's the most digs Reeves has posted since back in November of 2024.

Melissa has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. As for Plano East, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.

Melissa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Lone Star on the 19th. As for Plano East, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Allen on the 19th.
