Volleyball Recap: O'fallon Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Belleville East

O'Fallon faced Belleville East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Panthers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancers. The Panthers have struggled against the Lancers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

O'Fallon was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 20 points in every single set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-20.

Sutton Massey paced O'Fallon's offense, picking up six kills. Massey got some help from Ian Shirley and his 12 assists.

O'Fallon's defeat dropped their record down to 27-6. As for Belleville East, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-7 record this season.

Coincidentally, O'Fallon and Belleville East will both be playing Edwardsville the next time they take the court. The Lancers will head out to face the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, while the Panthers will host them at 5:30 p.m. on the 22nd.
