Baseball Recap: Spring Grove Takes a Loss

Spring Grove fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Susquehannock on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rockets have suffered since May 6, 2024.

Holden Gobrecht and Abrum Dull stepped up to the plate in a big way. Gobrecht got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one stolen base, while Dull got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Gobrecht has snagged this season. Konner Marshall was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Spring Grove has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6-1 record this season. As for Susquehannock, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring Grove will welcome Gettysburg at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so the Rockets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
