Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln). They had just enough and edged out the Smithfield Sentinels 7-6 on Wednesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Lions as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
The team relied heavily on Isaac Cabral, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Caden Oldham was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs.
Lincoln was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Lincoln's record is now 4-15. As for Smithfield, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.
Coming up, Lincoln will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Central at 4:00 p.m. The Knights will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. Smithfield does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
