Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Christian's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

Hillcrest Christian dropped down to 7-4 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They took a 34-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Sylva Bay Academy Saints. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Saints apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Despite the loss, Hillcrest Christian still got an impressive performance from Darius Barnes, who posted 15 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Taylor Milton was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

As for Sylva Bay Academy, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points over those games.

Cash Pickel continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Pugh, who put up nine points and eight rebounds.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hillcrest Christian will challenge Varsity Opponent at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sylva Bay Academy, they will take on Centreville Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
