Basketball Recap: Covenant Academy Comes Up Short

Covenant Academy and Thomas Jefferson Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Covenant Academy had to settle for second. They were outmatched by the Thomas Jefferson Academy Jaguars and fell 78-39. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Jaguars recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Despite the loss, Covenant Academy still got an impressive performance from Ryan Stevens, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and ten boards. Stevens is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last 20 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Lucas Fisher, who posted three points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Covenant Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive matchups.

Covenant Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Thomas Jefferson Academy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-10.

As of now, neither Covenant Academy nor Thomas Jefferson Academy have any future games scheduled.
