Basketball Game Preview: Van Vleck Leopards vs. Brazos Cougars

The Van Vleck Leopards will head out on the road to square off against the Brazos Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Van Vleck has given up an average of 58 points per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Van Vleck is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Friday. They took a 62-48 bruising from Hitchcock.

Meanwhile, a well-balanced attack led Brazos over Boling in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Cougars blew the Bulldogs out of the water with a 75-27 final score. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Brazos pushed their record up to 14-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for Van Vleck, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-17.

Van Vleck ended up a good deal behind Brazos in their previous matchup back in December of 2025, losing 50-31. Can the Leopards avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
