Bonners Ferry posted their closest victory since March 28, 2024 on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the St. Maries Lumberjacks 12-10. This was payback for the Badgers, who suffered a 7-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Gavin Rider made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Rider was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Thomas Bateman was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Stryder Liermann, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

The win got Bonners Ferry back to even at 1-1. As for St. Maries, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
