Volleyball Recap: Carthage Tigers vs. Willard Tigers
Carthage lost against Willard back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Carthage fell 3-1 to Willard.
Carthage started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 22-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-17.
Elsie Willis paced Carthage's offense, picking up 18 kills. Willis got some help from Sadie Comer and her 36 assists. Willis was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Willard to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kylin Vandever, who had six digs and five aces. Those five aces gave Vandever a new career-high. Ava Simpson was another key player, getting 14 digs and two assists.
Carthage's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15-1. As for Willard, the win snapped their losing streak at three matches and leaves them with a 21-10-4 record.
Carthage didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Republic on the 22nd. As for Willard, they have also already played their next contest, a 3-0 victory against McDonald County on the 21st.
