Recap: Simpson Academy Cougars vs. Leake Academy Rebels
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Copiah Academy, The Simpson Academy Cougars were happy to have found some success on Friday. They skirted past Leake Academy 41-39. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Simpson Academy's seven-point performance the matchup before.
Leake Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was George Wilcox, who threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns while completing 86.7% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Nowell, who picked up 152 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Simpson Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. As for Leake Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Simpson Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Leake Academy will head out on the road to face off against Silliman Institute at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
