Baseball Recap: Duchesne Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

While Duchesne's win against St. Charles wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Pioneers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Pirates on Monday. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Gavin Moffitt tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 5.1 innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Fink, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Sam Jost was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Duchesne's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 24-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for St. Charles, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-18 record this season.
