Basketball Recap: SIUE East St. Louis Charter Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jaylen Wiley and Kejuan Rives

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact SIUE East St. Louis Charter can now relate to. They fell 65-56 to the Madison Trojans on Monday. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Despite the loss, SIUE East St. Louis Charter had strong showings from Kejuan Rives, who went 8-for-20 en route to 27 points and eight boards, and Jaylen Wiley, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds. Rives' big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points.

With the defeat, SIUE East St. Louis Charter broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-12. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30 points. As for Madison, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-18 record this season.

As of now, neither SIUE East St. Louis Charter nor Madison have any future games scheduled.
