Basketball Recap: Hancock Makes It 22 in a Row at Home

On Friday, Hancock faced St. Martin in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Hancock Hawks came out on top against the St. Martin Yellow Jackets by a score of 45-38. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Yellow Jackets, too.

Hancock's win was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for St. Martin, they moved to 16-1 with that loss, which also ended their 16-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hancock will finish 2024 at home by hosting Starkville at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Starkville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for St. Martin, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Moss Point on January 4, 2025.
