Preview: Tatnall Hornets vs. Indian River Indians
The Tatnall Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indian River Indians at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Tatnall comes in on ten and Indian River on five.
With a playoff game on the line, Tatnall rose to the challenge on Saturday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 53-0 win over First State Military Academy. Considering Tatnall has won ten matches by more than 21 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Rahshan Lamons was his usual excellent self, rushing for 204 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries, while also throwing for 125 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Lamons really tore up the turf during one magnificent 75-yard run. Jayden Minor was another key contributor, picking up 98 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Indian River beat Brandywine 14-10 on Saturday.
Indian River's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Darnell Stokes, who picked up 101 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Dylan Grise, who rushed for 17 yards and a touchdown.
Tatnall's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.0 points per game. As for Indian River, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Saturday's matchup: Tatnall has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Indian River struggles in that department as they've been even better at 211.9 per game. It's looking like Saturday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
