Football Recap: Rio Mesa Takes a Loss

Thursday just wasn't the day for Rio Mesa's offense. They took a blow against the Dos Pueblos Chargers on Thursday, falling 53-0. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Spartans, who until this matchup were averaging 13.86 points allowed.

Jadeline Gonzalez threw for 68 yards on ten of 25 attempts. On the ground, Taylor Gallegos rushed for 26 yards.

Rio Mesa is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-3. As for Dos Pueblos, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Rio Mesa is set to take on their familiar foe Oxnard at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Spartans 13.9, the Yellowjackets 8.9) so any points scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Dos Pueblos will square off against rival Pacifica at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
