Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Verot Vikings vs. Neumann Celtics

Bishop Verot has gone 9-1 against Neumann recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bishop Verot Vikings are taking a road trip to face off against the Neumann Celtics at 7:00 p.m. Bishop Verot is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Bishop Verot was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to Belen Jesuit.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Austin Leslie, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Gavin Williams, who posted 16 points and four steals.

Even though they lost, Bishop Verot smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Neumann hadn't done well against Golden Gate recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Neumann narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Golden Gate 52-49. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Celtics have posted since December 20, 2024.

Neumann has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-11 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.5 points per game. As for Bishop Verot, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-9.

Bishop Verot didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Neumann in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 50-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Bishop Verot since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
