Recap: Heritage Hurricanes vs. Hopewell Blue Devils
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Heritage Hurricanes had no problem doing just that on Friday. They strolled past the Blue Devils with points to spare, taking the game 23-6. Winning may never get old, but Heritage sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Heritage's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyree Wilson led the charge by rushing for 135 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Wilson really tore up the turf during one magnificent 83-yard run. Zachary Ray did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 107 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The last time Heritage lost on the road was back back in September. Having now won four straight away games, they've pushed their record up to 7-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.8 points per game. As for Hopewell, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-4.
Heritage will head out on the road to face off against Lafayette at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Lafayette's defense has only allowed seven points per game this season, so Heritage's offense will have their work cut out for Heritage. Hopewell does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
