Softball Recap: Kennedy Picks Up Seventh Straight Win on the Road

Kennedy barely beat Bishop Alemany the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Kennedy blew past Bishop Alemany 14-4 on Friday. The matchup marked the Cougars' most dominant win of the season so far.

Anais Perez looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. That hit marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, Kennedy let Alina Ortiz and Layla Cordon run wild. Ortiz scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances, while Cordon scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs Ortiz has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Olague, who went 2-for-6 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Kennedy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.

Kennedy's victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.4 runs over those games. As for Bishop Alemany, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-3 record this season.

Kennedy will challenge El Camino Real at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Bishop Alemany, they will take on Chatsworth at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
