Volleyball Preview: Grayslake Central Rams vs. Lakes Eagles
Grayslake Central and Lakes are an even 5-5 against one another since June of 2021, but not for long. The Rams will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Carmel wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Grayslake Central, they should've done a better job of containing Evan Page. The Rams came out on top against the Corsairs by a score of 2-0 on Monday thanks in part to Page, who had 11 digs and two aces. He is on a roll when it comes to digs, as he's now had ten or more in each of the last four games he's played.
Grayslake Central easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-21.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lakes and Grant Community meet (two straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Eagles walked away with a 2-0 win over the Bulldogs.
Lakes didn't let Grant Community take a single set, but it sure wasn't easy: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-22.
Grayslake Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-5 record this season. As for Lakes, their record is now 14-17.
Grayslake Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Lakes in their previous meeting back in April, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
