Baseball Recap: North Sanpete Comes Up Short

North Sanpete had lost five straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 8-12 to make it six. They lost 10-4 to the Canyon View Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-2 on Tuesday.

North Sanpete got a good showing from Christian Giacomazza, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Giacomazza has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, North Sanpete saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyson Guidos, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

As for Canyon View, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 20-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games.

On Canyon View's side, Zach Maine and Jarron Bradshaw did most of the damage at the plate: Maine went 1-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Bradshaw went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Maine a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Asher Slack, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, North Sanpete will take on Delta at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hawks' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rabbits have averaged an impressive 7.5 runs per game this season. As for Canyon View, they will challenge Juab at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
