Baseball Recap: Red Boiling Springs Comes Up Short

Red Boiling Springs extended their losing streak to 13 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-20 in the process. They lost 19-0 to the Gordonsville Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent loss being a 15-0 defeat back in April.

As for Gordonsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-9 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 15 runs.

For Gordonsville's part, J. Foster made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Foster has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Matthew Blankenship looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Gordonsville got a massive performance out of James Peoples, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave Peoples a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dalton Hancock, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Red Boiling Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Gordonsville, they will square off against Clay County at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
