Baseball Recap: Mission Vista Comes Up Short

Mission Vista is still winless after their match against Valley Center on Wednesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-5 heartbreaker at the hands of the Valley Center Jaguars. One positive for Mission Vista, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Mission Vista got a good showing from Santino Arvizu, who struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits.

On the hitting side, Kain Burnside made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was JJ Ayala, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Mission Vista's record is now 0-5. As for Valley Center, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mission Vista will venture away from home to take on Ramona at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Ramona's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Mission Vista's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Valley Center, they are taking a road trip to challenge Kearny at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
