Basketball Game Preview: Billingsley Bears vs. LAMP Golden Tigers

The Billingsley Bears will be taking part in a tournament against the LAMP Golden Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Billingsley will be strutting in after a win while LAMP will be coming in after a loss.

Last Thursday, everything came up roses for Billingsley against Ellwood Christian as the squad secured a 58-15 victory. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 36 points or more this season.

Alana Jones was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. She is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 33 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Derrica Motley, who posted six points in addition to eight assists and five boards.

Billingsley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in 33 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, LAMP was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a blow against Brewbaker Tech, falling 77-17. While losing is never fun, the Golden Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while the Rams are ranked 121st).

Billingsley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 41.3 points. As for LAMP, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.

Everything came up roses for Billingsley against LAMP in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 42-14 win. In that matchup, Billingsley amassed a halftime lead of 29-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
