Recap: West Mesa Mustangs vs. Volcano Vista Hawks
On Saturday, the West Mesa Mustangs faced the Volcano Vista Hawks in a battle between two of the state's top teams. West Mesa fell 53-41 to Volcano Vista. West Mesa has struggled against Volcano Vista recently, as their match on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
West Mesa lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Monique Sena, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Fresquez, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
West Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Volcano Vista, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-1.
West Mesa and Cibola will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 21st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Cibola is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Volcano Vista will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Centennial at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th.
