Softball Game Preview: Tomball Memorial Wildcats vs. Langham Creek Lobos

For the second straight game, Tomball Memorial will face off against Langham Creek. The Wildcats will square off against the Lobos at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tomball Memorial is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Tomball Memorial heads in on the heels of a playoff contest on Friday. They came up short against Langham Creek, falling 9-3. The Wildcats have struggled against the Lobos recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

For Langham Creek's part, Karli Challburg was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Challburg has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Izabella Amato-Ramirez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Simmons, who went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.

The victory was the 15th in a row for Langham Creek, bringing their record up to 24-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Tomball Memorial, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-11-1.
