Baseball Preview: Rocky River Ravens vs. Berry Cardinal

The Rocky River Ravens will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Berry Cardinal at 4:30 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Rocky River was handed a 11-point loss in their previous outing, but they didn't let that bad energy affect their game against Garinger on Wednesday. Rocky River came out on top in a nail-biter against Garinger and snuck past 9-7. The win was just what Rocky River needed coming off of a 12-1 defeat in their prior contest.

Rah Washington and Breylin Burgos did most of the damage at the plate: Washington scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3, while Burgos went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and a stolen base. Cavon Reid was another key contributor, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, a double, and an RBI.

Meanwhile, Berry scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They skirted past West Mecklenburg 20-18. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.

Wilber Carraway was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Drew Herring, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Rocky River's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-8. As for Berry, their record is now 2-12.

Everything went Rocky River's way against Berry in their previous meeting back in March as Rocky River made off with a 19-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rocky River since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
