Baseball Game Preview: Kingman Bulldogs vs. River Valley Dust Devils

The Kingman Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the River Valley Dust Devils at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Kingman barely beat Winslow the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Kingman never let Winslow get on the board and left with a 20-0 win on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Kingman.

Meanwhile, River Valley came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 16-6 margin over the Cougars.

The team relied heavily on Hunter Koehler, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Landon Neufield, who scored three runs and stole three bases.

River Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Kingman's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games. As for River Valley, their record now sits at 13-4-2.

Kingman suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to River Valley in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
