Football Recap: Grace Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Riley Williams and Jake Williams

Grace was the 52-0 winner over Fillmore when they last played one another back in August of 2015, but their luck changed this time around. The Lancers lost to the Flashes on the road by a 54-40 margin on Friday. The Lancers gained 144 more yards on the day, but it was the Flashes that made the best use of them.

Grace's loss came despite strong showings from Jake Williams and RIley Williams. Jake gained 147 total yards and four touchdowns, while RIley threw for 301 yards and four touchdowns.

Fillmore's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Thomas Alamillo, who picked up 96 receiving yards and one score, and also rushed for 40 yards and one TD. Those 96 receiving yards gave Alamillo a new career-high. Jasiah Patterson was in the mix as well, providing Fillmore with two touchdowns.

Grace's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Fillmore, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace will head out to square off against Brentwood School at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Fillmore, they will venture away from home to face off against Carpinteria at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
