Softball Game Preview: Shadow Hills Knights vs. Palm Desert Aztecs

The Shadow Hills Knights will take on the Palm Desert Aztecs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Shadow Hills will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.

Shadow Hills barely beat Palm Desert the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Shadow Hills' pitchers stepped up to hand Palm Desert a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Knights have won six contests by more than 11 runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ava Valenzuela looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Gianna Hernandez was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Ximena Arizaga was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Shadow Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.

Shadow Hills pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13.2 runs. As for Palm Desert, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
