Basketball Game Preview: Interlachen Rams vs. Bradford Tornadoes

Interlachen is 2-8 against Bradford since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Interlachen Rams are taking a road trip to square off against the Bradford Tornadoes at 7:30 p.m. Interlachen knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Bradford likes a good challenge.

If Interlachen beats Bradford with 74 points on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Interlachen was the clear victor by a 74-52 margin over Keystone Heights on Tuesday. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Rams had established a 20 point advantage.

Interlachen relied on the efforts of Kemontae Nixon, who dropped a double-double on 26 points and 13 boards, and Devon Williams, who went 5 of 7 on his way to 18 points in addition to six steals and five assists. The dominant performance gave Nixon a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb McKinnon, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards.

Meanwhile, Bradford can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Friday. They blew past Ridgeview 69-45.

Bradford's win came from a few key players Interlachen will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Steven Carter, who posted 13 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Marlin Haywood, who put up 11 points and four steals.

The win got Bradford back to even at 1-1. As for Interlachen, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Interlachen skirted past Bradford 57-54 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Interlachen since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
