Hampton Bays had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-12 to make it nine. They lost 9-2 to the Miller Place Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent loss being a 13-1 defeat back in April.

Hampton Bays saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kira Clinton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

As for Miller Place, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 9-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average this season.

On Miller Place's side, Ava Zicchinelli made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Zicchinelli has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Emily Lopez was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Delaney Schleider was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
