Basketball Game Preview: Dobyns-Bennett Indians vs. Science Hill Hilltoppers

Dobyns-Bennett and Science Hill are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2021, but not for long. The Dobyns-Bennett Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Science Hill Hilltoppers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

If Dobyns-Bennett beats Science Hill with 55 points on Friday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two games with that exact score. Dobyns-Bennett walked away with a 55-46 win over Gate City on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Indians.

Meanwhile, Science Hill had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.4 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They took down the Patriots 68-49. Given the Hilltoppers' advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Patriots are ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Science Hill's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.8 points per game. As for Dobyns-Bennett, their win bumped their record up to 17-7.

Dobyns-Bennett suffered a grim 70-45 defeat to Science Hill in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Can Dobyns-Bennett avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
