Basketball Game Preview: Muscatine Muskies vs. Pleasant Valley Spartans

Muscatine hasn't had much luck against Pleasant Valley recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Muscatine Muskies will head out to take on the Pleasant Valley Spartans at 7:30 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Muscatine sitting on five straight victories and Pleasant Valley on three.

While Muscatine didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Davenport Central 82-46 on Tuesday. The Muskies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 26 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pleasant Valley). They claimed a resounding 76-47 win over Clinton. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Muscatine's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 37.3 points. As for Pleasant Valley, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Muscatine came up short against Pleasant Valley in their previous meeting back in February, falling 54-50. Can Muscatine avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
