League recap: Rover throws longest pass in league this season for Xavier Prep

Rex Rover and Jake Ashton provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Desert Hot Springs. The connection was good for 74 yards, the longest such play in Freelance this season.

Rancho Mirage was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fourth to first in the league. Earlier in the week, Rancho Mirage triumphed over Indian Springs 28-18.

Xavier Prep's dynamic duo of Rover and Ashton proved to be unstoppable against the Golden Eagles, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Rover threw for 276 yards and 2 touchdowns and Ashton had 139 yards receiving. Daniel Stabile helped Xavier Prep's passing attack out by catching 9 balls for 137 yards.

The Saints' dynamic duo of Rover and Ashton proved tough for Desert Hot Springs to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Rover put up the best numbers through the air as Xavier Prep defeated eric perry's team.

He was 15-24 with 1 interceptions.

Patrick Laird was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 248 yards on 36 carries as Mission Prep bested the Golden Eagles.

Laird was a force in the backfield as the Royals topped St. Genevieve.

Ashton was the best wideout in Freelance this week as the Saints defeated Desert Hot Springs.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Xavier Prep's Rover and Stabile have proven to be a lethal combination. 5-8 quarterback Rover has thrown for 604 yards this season, while Stabile has 22 catches for 298 yards. Mission Prep's Laird leads the league in rushing yards with 582.

The Saints scaled the state rankings by moving to 752 from 930 this week, the biggest jump in the league. Xavier Prep was able to make move up by defeating the Golden Eagles 40-14.
