Basketball Recap: Summit Academy Bears vs. Providence Hall Patriots
There's no place like home for the Summit Academy Bears, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Friday. They managed a 61-57 win over Providence Hall on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Summit Academy had a senior duo take command as Lance Green dropped a double-double on 17 points and 15 rebounds and Colbyn Draper scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Draper hasn't dropped below 20 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Stewart Woodward, who scored five points along with five steals.
Defeat or not, Providence Hall got some senior leadership from Evan Fraser and Dawson McDermaid. Fraser scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals, while McDermaid. scored 13 points along with four steals. Fraser is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Jaiden Reyes was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds.
Summit Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Providence Hall, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-12.
Summit Academy will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Judge Memorial Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully the Bears like a good challenge. As for Providence Hall, they will head out on the road to take on the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. American Heritage has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 289 points over their last four matchups.
