Poly Prep Country Day came tearing into Sunday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.6 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let Ranney get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. That's two games straight that the Blue Devils have won by just one run.

Not much got past Justice De Jong, who gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Ranney off the board. De Jong has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Poly Prep Country Day's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Ranney, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.
